ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team completed their first day of competition at the Wolverine Invitational hosted by Michigan, with a trio of Broncos recording wins against a stacked field on Friday. The Broncos will be back in action on Saturday, September 22, when they play a doubles session against Arizona State and a singles session against reigning national champion Florida.

WMU freshman Kelsey King continued the promising start to her career with a singles victory on Friday, defeating Georgia's Kelli Jordan in her lone singles match on the day. King downed Jordan 6-0, 6-0, a feat made all the more impressive by the fact that the Bulldogs reached the national quarterfinals in 2012.

In other action, the doubles pairing of Caroline Aleck and Kathleen Hawkins, the team's award winners in 2011-12, recorded an impressive doubles victory when they beat Iowa's pairing of McCulloch and Silver 8-5. The pair of Aleck and Hawkins recorded a 10-4 record in 2011-12, and have started the 2012-13 season with a 1-1 record.
