Broncos Wrap Up Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Western Michigan cross country team wrapped up competition at the Auto-Owners Spartan Invitational on Friday afternoon at Forest Akers East Golf Course on the campus of Michigan State.

The Broncos battled a crowded field that included 309 total athletes in the women's college race, which was non-scored. Once again junior Aisha Hodge was the top finisher for WMU, finishing the 6k race with a time of 23:15. Senior Rachel Whitley was not far behind her as the Brown & Gold's second finisher with a time of 23:35.

Senior Cara Cremeans and junior Ashley Moyer finished within two seconds of each other as WMU's third and fourth finishers on the day.  Cremeans finished at 23:47, while Moyer, who has been off to a strong start this season, finished at 23:49.

Sophomore Becca Peacock continued her strong start to round out Western Michigan's top-five finishers with a time of 23:55. Senior Teresa Marin and freshman Raychel Figurski rounded out the top seven.

Western Michigan has a week off to improve before heading to Chicago for the Loyola Lake Front Invitational on Sept. 29.
