Broncos Take Third at George Dales Invitational
THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- The Western Michigan cross country team finished in third place as Hope College and Eastern Michigan tied for first place at the George Dales Invitational at Pine View Golf Club on Friday afternoon.
The Broncos were only able to land one runner in the top 10 with Aisha Hodge placing ninth in WMU's first 6k race of the season. Hodge ran a time of 23:07.26, while Cara Cremeans finished just behind her in 11th with a time of 23:21.57.
"I still don't think our best runners are running like they are capable," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "This was a disappointing result."
Becca Peacock made her second straight appearance in WMU's top five with a 13th overall finish and a time of 23:28.28.
"Becca has really stepped up these first two weeks," added Lycan.
Rachel Whitley and Teresa Marin rounded out the Broncos' top five finishers.
EMU's Victoria Voronko was the overall champion with a time of 21:55.72.
Western Michigan heads to East Lansing, Mich., for the Spartan Invitational at Michigan State on Friday afternoon.
