WMU Golf Hosts Fifth Annual "Par Buster"
Mother nature set up an absolutely gorgeous day for the fifth annual WMU Golf "Par Buster" Golf Outing at The Moors Golf Club. Golfers from all across Kalamazoo and surrounding areas showed their support for the Bronco Golf Program by being a participant in the event or just giving donations to the program.
"This is an important event, especially in a time like this," said senior Kaylee Imel. "We love the financial support and we know now were playing for a reason."
The participants of the outing had the opportunity to interact with the golfers before they played their round and during the 18-hole golf course in which the participants would venture out on to. WMU's golfers swung by and helped the players read their putt's or make sure their line was set-up for a grand tee-shot, while some of the WMU golfers would take their clubs and play right along with you.
"We're going to have fun playing with everyone," said Imel. "We also want to thank them for the support."
The upcoming fall schedule for the golf team has been released and the group can't wait to go out there and start playing again. Imel, who is the lone senior on the team, knows what needs to be done in order to get ready for the spring portion of the golf schedule.
"We need to finish strong," said Imel. "Ending on a strong note heading into the spring season is a good feeling."
Head coach Cindy Trout is well aware that her team is capable to succeeding during the fall.
"This squad is full of winners," said Trout.
Though Imel is the only senior on the team, she is confident in not only her own but her team's abilities.
"This is a great group of girls," said Imel. "They don't need to be led, they know what to do."
