Carder and O'Neill Named to Senor Bowl Watch List
MOBILE, Ala. - Alex Carder and Dann O'Neill are two of five Mid-American Conference players to find their names on the watch list for the 2013 Under Armour Senior Bowl.
For Carder, this accolade is joined by a laundry list of preseason accolades. The Shawnee, Kan., native is up for not only a roster spot on the Senior Bowl but is also a candidate for the Walter Camp Player of the Year, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award and Unitas Golden Arm Award.
O'Neill, a native of Grand Haven, Mich., is being mentioned for his first postseason honor. The senior, who joined WMU in 2009 after transferring from Michigan, has started all 24 games he as appeared in during his Bronco career. In 2011, he appeared in a career high 1,010 offensive snaps at offensive tackle.
The Senior Bowl will once again have a wide range of talent to choose from when selecting the top senior college football players for its annual showcase event. The nation’s premier all-star game unveiled its first ever “Watch List” today, highlighting 311 seniors and top NFL draft prospects from 114 different schools to keep an eye on during the 2012 college football season.
The top 100 seniors in the country will be invited to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, set for Saturday, January 26th in Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
The Southeast Conference has the most members on the watch list with 71 followed by the Big Ten with 46.
Nine players that appear on rosters of 2012 Western Michigan opponents also appear on the Senior Bowl watch list - Connecticut (5), Illinois (3) and Kent State (1). Miami and Ohio also have players on the list to round out the MAC's five honorees.
