Broncos Fall at No. 19 Illinois
The Broncos landed eight of their 20 shots on net but were unable to get anything past Steph Panozzo on the night. The lone goal came in the 50th minute on a penalty kick by Kassidy Brown. The PK was awarded after an Illinois player was fouled at the top of the box.
"Obviously the outcome is disappointing," said head coach Nate Norman. "I couldn't be more proud f each girl on the team. they all played so well against a very good opponent and we are very excited about the rest of our season. We had plenty of chances to win the game and we have to learn from this game and get better."
Anina Cicerone, Rachel Chaney and Nicole Hatcliffe each landed two shots on net, while Cicerone fired off five shots total. Junior keeper Michelle Watson made four saves in the loss.
The Broncos are in action next weekend at Coastal Caroina's tournament. WMU plays College of Charleston on Friday at 5 p.m. and then the hosts Coastal Carolina on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
