WMU Hockey Releases 2012-13 Schedule
KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan hockey program and head coach Andy Murray have announced the schedule for the 2012-13 season, featuring 18 regular season home games.
The defending Central Collegiate Hockey Association Champions will host St. Lawrence and Canisius to open the season before heading on the road to open CCHA play at Notre Dame on Nov. 2.
The Broncos return to the Great Lakes Invitational on Dec. 28 to battle Michigan State outdoors at Comerica Park. The game will mark a milestone for the program, playing in the first outdoor game in WMU history. Depending on the outcome, Western Michigan will then play Michigan or Michigan Tech the following day in the program's second outdoor game.
Western Michigan CCHA pod teams this season are Notre Dame, Bowling Green, Ferris State and Michigan, with the Broncos battling each team four times. Michigan makes its first appearance at Lawson Ice Arena since 2010, playing a pair of games in Kalamazoo on Jan. 25 and 26.
WMU also hosts Northern Michigan, Lake Superior and Miami in conference action and are on the road at Alaska, Ohio State and Michigan State.
