CLEVELAND, Ohio - It was announced today that Ross VanderPloeg was named the Mid-American Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for April 18, making him the third Bronco to take home the award this season.  VanderPloeg joins teammates Simon Blomberg and Nadin Indre as recipients of the award.

VanderPloeg won both of his matches in the Broncos 6-1 win over Ball State on Saturday, clinching the important doubles point for his team before winning a three-set thriller in singles play.  After the Broncos and Cardinals split the first two doubles matches, VanderPloeg and Simon Blomberg came back from a small deficit to defeat the pair of Patrick Elliott and Andres Monroy 9-7 to take the critical doubles point for the Broncos.

That point proved to be most important as the rest of the match continued, with neither team able to gain separation early in the match.  The Broncos would go on to win the match 6-1 when VanderPloeg closed the scoring with a three-set win over Austin Smith in the No.4 singles match, rallying from a second set loss to win 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (5).
