Gold Ties Series With Walk Off RBI By Forton

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Gold rebounded from an 8-2 series opening loss with a 2-1 win in Game 2 in the Brown & Gold intrasquad series Friday at Robert J. Bobb Stadium. Senior Troy Forton (Muskegon/Muskegon North) drove in the winning run in walk off fashion to move the series to a decisive game three.

Freshman Jared Kujawa (Bedford/Bedford Temperance) continued to swing a hot bat for the Gold going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Freshman RHP Will Nimke (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Pioneer) tossed five impressive innings surrendering only two hits while striking out two and walking none. Freshman Josh DeJoung picked up the win in two innings of scoreless relief.

Junior Chris Bossenbery (Lansing/Holt) tossed five solid innings for the Brown squad recording three strikeouts while giving up on two hits and no free passes. Freshman southpaw Matt Nestor (Rochester/Rochester Adams) tossed an inning in relief and fanned all three batters that he faced.

"It was great to see the Gold team battle back today to force a game three," said WMU head coach Billy Gernon. "Competitive character and resiliency are critical components to winning a championship."
