FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- For the first time since the 2005-06 season, the Western Michigan Bronco hockey team is represented on the Preseason All-CCHA Team with Chase Balisy named Second Team All-Conference on Tuesday.

Balisy, a sophomore, finished second on the team in scoring last year with 30 points on 12 goals and 18 assists. Combining with line mates Dane Walters and Shane Berschbach, he was a pivotal part of the revitalization of the Bronco hockey team and helped them to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1996. Balisy was later named to the CCHA All-Freshman team and was named a Freshman All-American by Inside College Hockey.

The Nashville Predators draft pick is the first member of the Brown & Gold to earn preseason honors since Brent Walton was named to the second team during his senior year. Balisy also collected three votes for first team and had the most votes among anyone on the second team.

Sophomore defenseman Dan DeKeyser and junior defenseman Matt Tennyson both received Honorable Mention. The Preseason All-CCHA Team is voted on by the head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.

The CCHA releases its Media and Coaches Polls on Wednesday afternoon before the CCHA Media Day conference calls. The CCHA TV schedule will also be released later this week.
