KALAMAZOO -- Although the season is over for the Bronco hockey team, the accolades keep pouring in for Western Michigan as defenseman Danny DeKeyser was named First Team Freshman All-American by Inside College Hockey. Fellow freshman Chase Balisy was named Second Team Freshman All-American as well.

DeKeyser, a native of Clay Township, Mich., was on the Broncos' top defensive pair all season long and was often asked to shut down the opposition's best line. The former Sioux City Musketeer (USHL) finished second on the team in plus/minus with +12, just one behind defensive partner Luke Witkowski, but led the team with 46 blocked shots. He finished the season with 17 points on five goals and 12 assists and was named to the CCHA All-Tournament Team for his play in the CCHA Semifinals and Finals.

DeKeyser, along with Balisy, were also named to the CCHA All-Rookie team. Balisy finished second on the team in scoring with 30 points on 18 assists and 12 goals. The U.S. National Team Developmental Program product saw a lot of ice time on the season as part of WMU's second line and also saw heavy time on the power play and the penalty kill. A native of Ranch Santa Margarita, Calif., he was named CCHA Rookie of the Week, CCHA Offensive Player of the Week and CCHA Rookie of the Month in the season.

The Broncos, Notre Dame and Union were the only teams with more than one on either the first or second team.
