Mark Mitchell began as a graduate assistant on the strength & conditioning staff at Western Michigan, supporting the WMU football, cheer and dance teams in the summer of 2010.  Mitchell earned his bachelors degree from Eastern Michigan and was a three-year letterwinner as a defensive back and special teams player on the Eagles football team.

Prior to joining the Broncos, Mitchell served as an undergraduate student intern on the EMU sports performance staff, completing 600 hours.  He also completed a 10-week internship on the football strength & conditioning staff at the Ohio State University.
