KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Tim Cross pounded out three hits in leading Black to a 12-10 victory over Gray to seal the Fall World Series, 3-0.

Troy Forton added two hits and four RBIs and Brad Wehrmeyer did the same with two hits and four RBIs including the decisive two run double in the top of the ninth to break a tied score.

In all, the Black team pounded out 12 hits with seven of them going for extra bases.

Forton also came in to pitch the eighth and ninth to pick up the victory, striking out four of the six batters he faced.

The Gray team battled throughout coming back from two deficits in the game with three runs in the sixth to tie it at four and then six runs in the seventh to tie it at 10 all, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Junior Grant Simotes along with a pair of freshmen – Brooks Bielke and Chris Bossenbery each had two hits in the losing effort.

Sophomore Jamie Simpson added a three-run homer for Gray, tying the game in the sixth. 

Games four and five will be played to finish out the series starting this Sunday at noon.
