This will be the 27th ever meeting between Western Michigan and Detroit, with the series tied 13-13 ... the Titans have won the last two in the series, winning last year in Kalamazoo, 73-64 and in 2010-11 in Detroit, 66-53 ... WMU had posted three wins in a row before that ... the last time WMU defeated Detroit was on Nov. 17, 2006 in Kalamazoo - the Broncos came away with an 85-72 win, behind a school single-game record 41 points by All-American Carrie Moore.

Western Michigan is in a stretch of five straight games away from Kalamazoo and plays six of seven games on the road, beginning last week in Flagstaff, Ariz., at the Northern Arizona Tournament ... following today's game at Detroit, WMU travels to Oakland (Dec. 1) and IUPUI (Dec. 5) ... it is the longest road stretch for WMU all season ... the Broncos return to their home court Dec. 8 to host Chicago State before traveling to Michigan Dec. 15.

The Broncos are led by first-year head coach Shane Clipfell and are off to a 2-3 record ... three players are averaging double figures for the Broncos, junior guard Corie Buchanan (12.0 ppg), senior guard Aurielle Anderson (10.6 ppg) and freshman Miracle Woods (10.2 ppg) ... the trio is also the team's top rebounders, Woods leading the way with 5.4 rpg, folloed by 4.0 rpg by Buchanan and 3.6 rpg by Anderson ... WMU is shooting 37.6 percent from the field and averaging 63.2 ppg as a team, while allowing 68.4 ppg.

Shane Clipfell became the first Western Michigan women's basketball head coach to win his first game on the bench since Jim Hess accomplished the feat in 1982 as WMU defeated American in the season opener, 57-53.

WMU is coming off a trip to Flagstaff, Ariz., in which WMU defeated Northern Arizona, 78-67, and lost to Tulane in the championship game of the NAU Thanksgiving Tournament, 66-48, Nov. 23 & 24 ... junior guard Corie Buchanan led WMU vs. NAU, scoring a career-high 24 points, adding 10 rebounds and five assists for her first double-double of the season (third career) ... freshman forward Miracle Woods paced WMU with 11 points vs. Tulane, while sophomore Michelle O'Brien pulled down a team-best six rebounds.

Sophomore guard Julila Henson missed both games at the Northern Arizona Tournament with a sore back ... she is expected to return to the lineup against Detroit.

Detroit is coached by Autum Rademacher in her fifth season, and is off to a 2-3 start ... Rademacher has a career record of 64-68 at UD and led the Titans to a 20-14 overall, 14-4 Horizon League finish last year, as well as an appearance in the WNIT ... 6-0 sophomore guard Shareta Brown leads Detroit, averaging 22.2 ppg and 9.2 rpg ... sophomore guard Audrey Matteson is also hitting double figures with 12.8 ppg and 6.4 rpg ... the Titans are shooting 42.4 percent from the floor and are averaging 63.2 ppg, and allowing 63.4 ppg ... UD is coming off losses to No. 6/7 Penn State (80-72) and South Alabama (59-56).

Detroit head coach Autumn Rademacher spent seven years as an assistant coach at Western Michigan from 1997-2004 ... Rademacher was on staff during current Bronco assistant coach Kristin Koetsier's playing career and helped WMU capture the 2003 Mid-American Conference Championship ... another former Bronco also represents the Titans in assistant coach Emily (Samuelson) Greary ... Samuelson played at WMU from 2000-02 and was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Freshman Team in 2001 ... she played her final two seasons at Northern Michigan.

Detroit is one of four opponents from the Horizon League ... WMU fell to Milwaukee, Nov. 14, 88-79, and will face Valparaiso at home Dec. 19 and UIC on the road Dec. 28.
