CHICAGO -- The Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League have announced the signing of former Western Michigan Bronco and 2008-09 Central Collegiate Hockey Association Scoring Champion
Patrick Galivan on Monday afternoon.
Galivan, who hails from the Chicago suburb of Oak Park, led the Broncos in scoring during his senior campaign, tallying career highs in points, goals, assists and games played. He netted 19 goals and tallied 28 assists for 47 points and was the fifth player in school history to win the CCHA Scoring Title.
He is the second member of the 2008-09 team to sign a contract with an AHL squad, after teammate
Chris Frank signed with the San Antonio Rampage shortly after the season's end. Galivan also becomes the most recent Bronco to suit up in the AHL. Along with Frank, former Broncos
Matt Clackson, Pat Dwyer, Mark Letestu and Paul Szczechura have all seen ice time. Szczechura and Dwyer each broke through to make their career debuts in the National Hockey League this season, with Szczechura appearing with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Dwyer with the Carolina Hurricanes.
In all, Galivan scored 35 goals and tallied 60 assists for 95 points in 122 career games in his WMU career that spanned four seasons from 2005 to 2009. The Wolves are entering the franchise's 16th season and are currently affiliated with Atlanta Thrashers of the AHL.
