WMU Football Hall of Famer Dale Livingston Passes Away at the Age of 63

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Dale Livingston, one of Western Michigan University's most prolific kickers, died Monday at a Green Bay, Wis., hospital after suffering through recent heart problems. He was 63.

During his time at Western Michigan University, Dale Livingston earned two All-MAC titles and was Second Team All-America as a senior. He is tied for the record for the longest punt in a game (86 yards). He holds the third spot for career punt average (39.9 yards-per-punt), he has the second all-time punt average in a season (43.3 yards-per-punt, 1967), and holds the third all-time record for punt average in a game (49.8 yards-per-punt vs. BYU, 1967).

After graduating from WMU, Dale was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and spent two seasons (1968-69) with the organization. He became the starting kicker on the inaugural team during his first year. While in the NFL, Dale also played professionally for the Green Bay Packers during the 1970 season.

Livingston is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, two sons, Dale and Christopher, and four granddaughters. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Eastern Time Friday at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay, Wis., resuming at 11 a.m. Saturday at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida Ave. in Ashwaubenon. The funeral Mass will be at noon and burial will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
