STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -- The Western Michigan golf team wrapped up the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate on Tuesday, taking third place at Eagle's Landing Country Club.
The Broncos combined for a three-round score of 904, finishing just behind second place Western Kentucky at 899 and champions Elon at 887. WMU finished ahead of the rest of the 15-team field.
"We did some good things this week and posted the scores we are capable of," said head coach Stacy Snider. "As a team we are learning to manage the golf course better, which leads to better scores. We have a quick turnaround before we we leave for Kansas City and we will be ready to go."
Western Michigan was led by freshman Sarah White. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native finished tied for 11th at 225 (+9) after shooting an even par 72. White was -8 in the tournament on par fives, including two eagles and an albatross on the third hole during the final round. Her -8 ranked second in the tournament in par five scoring.
Senior Chloe Lawrie was WMU's second finisher, placing 29th after shooting 231 (+15). Sophomore Julia Champion finished just behind Lawrie tied for 30th at 232. Anna Wilcoxson rounded out the Broncos' top four after tying for 36 with a three-round score of 233.
Western Michigan is back at it for its final tournament before the Mid-American Conference Championship, heading to Kansas City, Mo., for the Gary Crossley Ford KC hosted by the University of Missouri Kansas City beginning on Monday.
