Nate Norman Named NSCAA Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Western Michigan women's soccer head coach Nate Norman has been named 2015 Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Monday afternoon. 

To be considered for the award, a coach must be an individual NSCAA member as well as have a successful record for the season. In addition, the coach should exhibit: knowledge of the game, rapport with the team, team image, positive conduct on the field, work for coaches organization, outside involvement, community involvement, rapport with other coaches, officials, and media. and service to the NSCAA.

Norman led the Broncos to a Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship for the second time in three years, becoming the first program in history to win multiple titles. Western Michigan defeated Miami in the MAC Championship game, 2-0. The team finished second in the MAC with a 8-1-2 record and the team's 14-4-4 overall record tied a program-best for wins in a season. 

"This is another fantastic team award," said Norman. "This is a great honor because there are so many great coaches and teams in our region. This really shows the hard work and the success of every individual on this team and my three assistants Lauren, Cliff and Erin. This was a really special team that I am very proud to be a part of." 

He also led the program to its third NCAA Women's College Cup appearance, falling to No. 2 seeded Florida, 1-0 in Gainesville on Nov. 14.

Norman, who was also named MAC Coach of the Year, is now eligible for the NSCAA National Coach of the Year award.
