DEKALB, Ill. - The Western Michigan volleyball team saw its four-match win streak snapped on Thursday night as the Broncos dropped their first Mid-American Conference road match of the season, falling 3-0 (20-25, 22-25, 19-25) to the Northern Illinois Huskies. With the loss the Broncos fall to 14-16 overall and 10-5 in the MAC.

Illinois native Olivia Kofie was the offensive leader for the Broncos, recording nine kills on 13 swings with no errors for a .692 hitting percentage. Alysia Baznik had 34 assists, seven digs and four kills, and junior Nicole Kinser had eight kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Hailey Knecht finished with a match-high 13 digs.

NIU jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first set but the Broncos clawed back to within one point late in the set. Bailey Schnell made it just 20-17 with kills on back-to-back points and Baznik cut it to 20-18 with a kill that forced a Husky timeout. Knecht aced T'ara Austin to pull the score to 20-19, but NIU scored five of the final six points to claim the first set decision.

The Broncos took the early lead in the second set, winning the race to 10 when Kinser blocked Lauren Zielinski to make it 10-7. Knecht picked up another ace a few points later, fooling Paige Dacanay to make it 15-12 and force the Huskies into a timeout. Kofie bounced a kill to make it 19-16 and Kinser added another a few points later to put WMU ahead 22-19, but six straight points by the Huskies gave NIU the 25-22 set win that made it 2-0.

The Huskies took an early lead in the first set, going up 15-12 to force a Bronco timeout and continuing to push the issue throughout. Austin made it 22-18 with a kill and Jenna Radtke finished off the match, recording a kill to make it 25-19.
