TULSA, Okla. -- The Western Michigan men's tennis team competed in the St. Francis Hospital ITA All-American Championship at the University of Tulsa. The Broncos sent five individuals to compete with players from around the nation. WMU came out 4-1 in singles play on the first day, which was the pre-qualifying draw while the qualifying draw is slated for Monday.
Matt Hamilton, who won the Vredevelt Flight B Singles Championship last week, topped Amar Saletovic of Oral Roberts 6-1, 7-5 to improve his record to 4-0 this season. Ruben Griener earned a 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 win over Fabian Brand of Texas-San Antonio to improve to 4-2 while Daniel Loebel earned a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Scott Huang of William & Mary to improve to 4-3. Jefta Kecic earned a tough 7-6, 6-3 win over Sean Baklini of New Mexico after trailing in the first set 0-3. Hamiilton, Greiner, Kecic and Loebel all play on Sunday, Oct. 4 in the round of 128.

The Broncos will pick up play again on Sunday, Oct. 4 as Hamilton, Loebel, Kecic and Greiner will all fight to earn a spot in the qualifying draw by winning in the pre-qualifying draw.
