COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The National Collegiate Hockey Conference has announced the 2015-16 conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
Once again the Broncos face a tough schedule in a league that sent six teams to the 2015 NCAA Tournament and two teams to the Frozen Four in North Dakota and Omaha. The first eight games of the conference slate for WMU are against teams that participated in the tournament.
The Broncos open conference play against Frozen Four participant Mavericks on Oct. 30 and 31 and then head on the road to battle rivals Miami on Nov. 6 and 7. Western Michigan hosts St. Cloud State on Nov. 13 and 14 before opening December on the road at Minnesota-Duluth on Dec. 4 and 5. The first half of the season is closed out at home on Dec. 11 and 12 against Colorado College for the teams' only meeting this season.
Western Michigan opens NCHC play in 2016 with four-straight road games at Denver on Jan. 15 and 16 and at St. Cloud State on Jan. 22 and 23. The Broncos return home to face reigning NCHC Regular Season Champions North Dakota on Jan. 29 and 30.
WMU returns to Omaha on Feb. 12 and 13 before hosting the reigning NCHC Tournament Champion RedHawks on Feb. 19 and 20. The team closes out February hosting Denver on Feb. 26 and 27
The regular season ends for the Broncos with a trip to Grand Forks, N.D., to take on UND on March 4 and 5.
