Broncos Take Second at George Dales Invitational

THREE RIVERS, Mich. -- For the third straight week Aisha Hodge finished as the Western Michigan cross country team's top finisher, taking fourth place at the George Dales Invitational at Pine View Golf Club on Friday evening.

Hodge finished with a 6k time of 23:12.33, while the Broncos fell to Eastern Michigan 18-42. EMU's Victoria Voronko was the individual winner for the third straight season with a time of 21:16.55. The Eagles also claimed the second and third spots by Anna Aldrich and Kayla Pfund.

"I don't think we ran well at all today," said head coach Kelly Lycan. "Becca Peacock and Rachel Figurski ran well. Today was the first time Rachel finished in the top five, which was a great finish for her. We just have to get better."

Daya Wagh took sixth overall and was WMU's second finisher with a time of 23:22.66. Peacock was the third finisher and took ninth overall, while Figurski was the fourth finisher with a time of 23:45.38.

"We have a bunch of young people and this is going to be a learning experience for them the way through this year," added Lycan. "We just need to do better, that is the bottom line."

Western Michigan heads to South Bend, Ind., next Friday for the Notre Dame Invitational.
