KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan volleyball team announced its 2013 fall schedule today, a 30-match slate that will feature a home tournament and 12 total matches played at University Arena.  In addition, the schedule will include a challenging non-conference slate that features three opponents that finished the 2012 season ranked in the top-20 of the American Volleyball Coaches' Association poll.

The Broncos will open their season with four straight matches in the friendly confines of University Arena, beginning with the annual Alumni exhibition match (8/24).  That will give way directly to the 2013 Holiday Inn West Invitational, which will welcome Northwestern, Milwaukee, and Oklahoma to Kalamazoo from August 30-31.  WMU will compete in a tournament hosted by Lousiana Tech from Sept. 6-7 before a brief respite, returning home to host IPFW on Sept. 10.  The Broncos will then spend two straight weekends on the road, participating in tournaments hosted by Florida (Sept. 13-14) and Dayton (Sept. 20-21).

Mid-American Conference play will open in Kalamazoo on Sept. 26 with a match against MAC West division rival Northern Illinois, after which the Broncos will take on Miami.  In-state rivals Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan will come to University Arena on Oct. 4 and 5, respectively, before the Broncos embark on a four-match road swing that sends them to Ball State (Oct. 11), Toledo (Oct. 12), Akron (Oct. 18), and Buffalo (Oct. 19).  The Broncos return home for a weekend series against Kent State and defending MAC regular season champion Ohio on Oct. 25-26 before traveling to Northern Illinois on Oct. 31.

Western Michigan will look for a measure of revenge when they host defending MAC tournament champion Bowling Green on Nov. 2, and then face their final road tests of the season at Eastern Michigan (Nov. 8) and Central Michigan (Nov. 9).  The Broncos close the regular season at home with matches against Toledo and Ball State on Nov. 15-16, in preparation for the MAC tournament from Nov. 22-24.
