MALIBU, Calif.- Western Michigan baseball fell 7-2 in game one and 7-1 in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at Pepperdine. The Broncos will look to avoid a sweep in the four-game series tomorrow.

GAME ONE

Pepperdine took a 2-0 lead early, scoring a run in the second and third innings. Western Michigan got a run back in the top of the fourth, but the Waves tacked another run to its total in the bottom of the fifth. WMU scored its second run in the top of the seventh and Pepperdine put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Pepperdine (2-0) had eight hits in the game, five off of Bronco starter Mike Moyer. Moyer fanned six over 4.1 innings, and allowed three runs in the loss.

Monty Porter surrendered three runs in an inning and two-third before Chris Bossenbery closed out the game, tossing the final two innings and holding Pepperdine to one hit.

Western Michigan (0-2) had four hits in the game. Jared Kujawa and Hunter Prince each had a double, while Patrick Duncan and Andrew Sohn singled. Duncan and had the team's lone RBI.

GAME TWO

Western Michigan hung around in game two, trailing 2-1, until Pepperdine scored two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to pull away.

Both runs off of Bronco start Patrick Borlik were unearned, as the junior right-hander hurled six innings before giving away to David Brennan who finished the game.

Borlik had three strikeouts and scattered three hits in what was one of the best pitching performances by a Bronco in the first three games against the Waves, despite taking the loss.

WMU's only run came in the top of the fifth, cutting a 2-0 deficit in half. Freshman Drew Farmer got on with a leadoff walk, and moved over to third after a pair of groundouts. Sophomore Andrew Sohn delivered a two-out single through the right side.

Freshman second baseman Kurt Hoekstra and freshman first baseman Hunter Prince each had two hits in the game. Sophomore Jared Kujawa also singled.
