Brian Callahan officially joined the Western Michigan Broncos on Jan. 11, 2013. Callahan returns to the Mid-American Conference after coaching the offensive line at Akron from 2004-09.

In his second season Callahan helped produce All-MAC honorees in Willie Beavers (2nd) and James Kristof (3rd) that anchored an offensive line that also helped produce the MAC Freshman/Offensive Player of the Year in Jarvion Franklin.

Callahan came to WMU from his alma mater, coaching at Eastern Illinois since the 2010 season. He helped lead the Panthers to the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Championship and into the Division I FCS Playoffs. EIU finished seventh in the total offense, sixth in passing offense and eighth in scoring offense in 2012.

While at Akron, Callahan helped the Zips to their first ever MAC Championship in 2005 and a berth in the 2005 Motor City Bowl. He was the program's run game coordinator from 2005-09, helping the Zips to a win over North Carolina State in 2006 and the most improved offense in the nation in 2008.  Callahan coached the tight ends and offensive line during his four-year tenure at the University of Texas-El Paso, helping the Miners to the 2000 Western Athletic Conference title and the 2000 Humanitarian Bowl. 

Callahan has coached and/or recruited three players that have gone on to be NFL draft selections during his time at UTEP and Akron. He started his coaching career in 1992 at the high school level and quickly rose through the ranks spending time at Louisville, Oklahoma and Pittsburgh.

Callahan (43/DOB: 1-24-1969) and his wife Jennifer have three children, Lauren, Grace and Kevin.
