LOUISVILLE, Ky. - WMU softball boasts the most National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athletes in one year in program history with eight honorees from 2011-12.
Courtney Rousseau (3.98, civil engineering) and Jennifer Tschetter (3.87, psychology) became only the second and third softball student-athletes to be named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes three times in their respective careers. Rousseau had WMU's eighth highest GPA in 2011-12, ranking highest among student-athletes without a 4.00 GPA.
Kristi Strange is WMU softball's only four-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.
Christina Pigozzi (3.57, exercise science) joined Amy Fleming, Connie Kolokithas and former teammate Michelle Bendewald as two-time honorees.
Upperclassmen earning the honor for the first time in their respective careers are Gracie Barstad (3.15, marketing), Tara Buchanan (3.57, recreation) and Meredith Whitney (3.18, interdisciplinary health services).
Earning NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete for the first time as freshmen are Jenny Rohn (3.57, elementary education) and Megan Stamm (3.78, political science).
Prior to this year's team, the most NFCA All-America National Scholar Athlete selections the Broncos had garnered in a single year were six (2011, 2010, 2004, 1998).
