KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The doubles pairing of
Stephen Payne and
Jim Beckwith took victory in the finals of the Volunteer Doubles draw, and the Western Michigan men's tennis team completed play on the final day of the Tennessee Fall Invitational.
Payne and Beckwith completed their perfect 3-0 weekend in Knoxville with a hard-fought victory in the Volunteer Doubles, defeating William Disterdick and Pavels Grigorjevs of UT-Chattanooga. The set was tight, but the Broncos overcame the Mocs by a score of 8-6. The win capped a 5-2 weekend for Beckwith, who also won a pair of singles matches this weekend.
The Broncos will be back in action this week when they participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional tournament.
