No. 7 WMU Opens Season Hosting St. Lawrence

LAST NIGHT
St. Lawrence took advantage of their power plays, tallying two goals with the man advantage while holding Western Michigan scoreless on seven tries. Greg Carey, Chris Martin, Kyle Flanagan and Josh Wick all tallied goals for the Saints, while David Killip, Brett Beebe and Garreett Haar lit the lamp for WMU. Haar's goal force overtime after netting it with an extra attacker with 31 seconds remaining. SLU goalie Matt Weninger made a game-high 31 saves on the night while Frank Slubowski made 20.

QUICK HITS - NOTES FROM LAST NIGHT
DEBUTS

- Five different Broncos made their debuts in last night's game. Kenney Morrison, Josh Pitt, Colton Hargrove, Nolan LaPorte and Mike Cichy all made their first appearances in the Brown & Gold. Morrison, Pitt, Hargrove and LaPorte also made their collegiate debuts.
- Two players tallied their first collegiate points in last night's game. Kenney Morrison and Josh Pitt both notched their first assists of their careers when they helped set up David Killip's goal in the first period.

ONE MAN BAND
- In three games against Western Michigan, Greg Carey has four goals and two assists. Carey netted a hat trick back in 2010 and followed it up with a goal and an assist in last night's game.

FOUR ON THE BOARD
- Last night was the first time WMU has surrendered four goals since Feb. 11, 2012 in a 4-3 loss to Ohio State in Kalamazoo.

EXTRA ATTACKER

- WMU netted an extra-attacker goal last night, but it was not on a power play. Garrett Haar netted his first goal of the season with 31 seconds remaining in the game to help force overtime. It is the first extra-attacker goal since Derek Roehl netted a delayed-penalty goal against Minnesota-Duluth on Jan. 7, 2012.

- Last night's loss was the first time WMU lost in overtime since Feb. 19, 2011 at Michigan.
