KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan women's soccer team hosts
Mid-American Conference rivals Central Michigan on Friday and Bowling
Green on Sunday, with a special Cancer Awareness game on Sunday.
The team has teamed up with the American Cancer Society and Colleges for
Cancer to bring awareness and raise funds for cancer research. Fans can
participate in several different ways to help the cause. The American
Cancer Society and Colleges for Cancer will be on hand with information
on ways to donate and support research. Fans are encouraged to help the
Broncos fight cancer by making a pledge for each Bronco goal scored in
the month of October with pledge cards available at the game. A PDF of

WMU will also be auctioning off their game-worn jerseys at a silent
auction which will be set up near the main entrance of the field. All
fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. Fans can stop by the
marketing table and show their pink to be entered to win some great
prizes during halftime.
Friday's game against CMU is set for a 4 p.m. start. The Chippewas
(6-3-1, 2-0-0 MAC) are coming off a pair of home wins over Kent State
and Ohio to open up MAC play. All three of Central Michigan's losses of
come on the road this season. The Chippewas have benefited from a
balanced attack four different players netting two goals on the season.
Jennifer Gassman and Laura Twidle are tied for the team lead in points
with two goals and one assist each for five points.
Sunday's game is set for 1 p.m. against the struggling Falcons. Bowling
Green enters this weekend with a 1-8-1 record (0-1-1, MAC) and a game at
Eastern Michigan on Friday afternoon. The Falcons opened MAC play
losing to Ohio at home and then tying Kent State, 0-0.
