KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Desmond Bozeman earned his second weekly honor for his performance against Connecticut, earning Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native was also named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Defensive Player of the Week as presented by Generation UCAN.

Bozeman had the key play in the Western Michigan's 30-24 win over Connecticut.  On first-and-15 in the fourth quarter, with the Broncos leading 24-17, Bozeman stripped the Huskies quarterback of the ball, scooped it and ran untouched 53 yards to the end zone.

The Dillard HS graduate had a career high 12 tackles with career bests in sacks (2.0) and tackles for loss (2.0).  The fumble recovery was the first defensive score of the year for WMU and first career score for Bozeman.  It was the first fumble recovery for a TD for the Broncos since Sept. 19, 2009 when Jamail Berry ran 24 yards for the score on the first play from scrimmage for opponent Miami.

This is the second MAC West weekly award for WMU football in 2012.
