KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Fifteen Bronco gymnasts earned National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Academic All-America honors and the team ranked ninth nationally with a 3.5335 grade-point average.
"To finish in the top-10 in the country shows our student-athletes' commitment to excellence in the classroom as well as the gym," stated head coach Dave Kuzara. "This team represents Western Michigan with pride and dedication."
Western Michigan had the highest team GPA of Mid-American Conference institutions and the most total student-athletes recognized from the conference. To earn NACGC All-America status, individuals must attain a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Two Broncos, Katlin Abbs and Stacy Kramer maintained 4.0 GPAs and four others were 3.85 or better.
Entering his fourth season as head coach at Western Michigan, Kuzara has raised the bar academically and athletically. WMU has carried a team GPA in the top 15 in the nation each of the last three years, with this year being the second time finishing in the top 10.
