KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan senior gymnasts Stacy Kramer and Taylor Zondervan excelled in competition and in the classroom during their collegiate careers, earning Capital One Academic All-District at-large honors for their dual excellence as student-athletes.

In NCAA Division I, there are eight districts, with Kramer and Zondervan being among the 11 honored from District V. Both will advance to the national ballot from which the Academic All-America teams are selected. District V includes universities in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, and only Illinois State had multiple selections, along with WMU.

Athletes from the following women's sports may be nominated for the at-large team: bowling, rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.

Both Kramer and Zondervan maintained 4.0 cumulative grade-point averages, Kramer majoring in biology and Zondervan studying exercise science. The pair also earned Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors earlier in the year.

Kramer has been accepted to the highly competitive College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee (approximately only 85 applicants are accepted each year). She competed in every meet on balance beam and floor exercise, setting career highs in both and scored a 9.725 on floor at the MAC Championships.

Zondervan qualified as an all-arounder at the NCAA regionals and reached the podium at the MAC Championships, tying for third in the floor exercise with a career-best 9.875. She added another top-10 finish, tying for eighth on the uneven bars. Zondervan led WMU with 11 individual titles and 11 runner-up finishes during the season.
