Kalamazoo, Mich. - Western Michigan Athletics has selected contestant winner, Angel Arnold, to attend the 2012 Frozen Four national hockey tournament in Tampa, Fla. on April 5-7.  Arnold is currently a senior at Western Michigan University and plans to graduate this coming spring.

Arnold has been attending hockey games since her freshman year and says, "I love the hockey team. It is great what they have accomplished."

Along with being a dedicated WMU bronco fan to other sports including football, Arnold finds excitement in the atmosphere of the hockey games, especially the student section.  She also noted that on St. Patrick's Day, her and all her friends stopped everything, turned on the TV and watched the Broncos beat Michigan.

This opportunity presented itself to Arnold when she and 26 other qualifiers were brought on the ice at WMU's game against Ohio State on Feb. 11. From that group the Frozen Chosen 4 were selected in the Broncos' game against No. 1 Ferris State on the Feb. 24 - Jennifer Wood, Zach Sullivan, Tim Seeber and Arnold were all confirmed as the Frozen Chosen 4 of this promotional event, upon which Arnold won.  She tells WMU athletics that she was really excited and didn't think it was going to happen, odds wise.

Arnold will bring her two best friends, Jeff and Andrew from WMU and best friend McKenzie, from Michigan State, to accompany her on this exciting venture.  The four friends depart from Grand Rapids in the early morning of April, Thursday 5 to attend both semi-final and final games in Tampa.

Upon her take off to Tampa, and throughout her stay, WMU athletics will be documenting Angel's thrilling experience at the Frozen Four.

"There's probably going to be a lot of pictures," she said. Arnold will be watching Boston College, Minnesota, Union and Ferris State battle for the national championship.

The four friends will be staying at a hotel in Downtown Tampa within walking distance of the Tampa Bay Times Forum,  where the games will be played.  Along with attending the games, Arnold and friends will enjoy the many shops and restaurants that Tampa has to offer.

"Friday we have all day to wander around. McKenzie and I are excited about the shops, but I don't know what the boys are as much," Arnold added.

Lastly, WMU Athletics asked Arnold if she had any last thoughts regarding being chosen as the winner of the Frozen Chosen 4 and selected to attend the Frozen Four tournament.

"It is a great way to end my year.  The Frozen Four is at the beginning of April and at the end of the month I will be saying goodbye to Western Michigan."
