KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan men's tennis team took a 2-1 lead midway through the match but could not complete the comeback effort, as the Broncos fell 5-2 to the Northern Illinois Huskies at West Hills Athletic Club on Friday. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 11-8, 1-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

The Broncos dropped the doubles point to the Huskies but immediately made up the ground in singles play with a pair of wins. Nadin Indre dominated his opponent in the No. 1 singles match, defeating Roman Turtygin 6-3, 6-1 to tie the overall match for the Broncos. Next was Indre's doubles partner, Ross VanderPloeg; VanderPloeg won a quick first set in the No. 5 singles match over Mikhail Titov, but needed to hold off the challenge in the second set to take the straight sets win.

The Broncos led 2-1 at this point, but those would be the final points WMU would muster as the Huskies controlled the tempo for the remainder of the match. The match would officially be clinched when Dor Amir came back from a one-set deficit against Pablo Olivarez in the No. 2 singles match, winning 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
