USAF ACADEMY, Colo.- No. 32 Western Michigan gymnastics scored a 193.450, taking second in a three-team meet at the Air Force Academy Monday evening. No. 22 Denver won the meet with a 196.050 and the host Falcons finished behind WMU with a 193.025.
Senior Taylor Zondervan placed second out of eight all-arounders, totaling a 38.825. Classmate Cepeda Carter also competed as an all-arounder, scoring a 38.525.
Carter had the Broncos' top finish on the balance beam for the second-straight meet, tying for sixth with a 9.775. She also had WMU's second-best vault score with a 9.750.
Sophomore Lauren Bledsoe led WMU on the vault and floor, tallying a 9.775 and a 9.800, finishing sixth and tied for third, respectively.
Juniors Caroline O'Brien and Brynn Wienckowski, as well as sophomore Kristen Seidowski tied for fifth on the uneven bars, all recording a 9.775.
The Broncos are currently ranked No. 32 in the nation with a 194.315 Regional Qualifying Score (RQS), highest of any team from the Mid-American Conference.
With just two regular season meets remaining, Western Michigan hosts Big Ten foe No. 19 Illinois on Senior Day, Sunday, March 11 at 1 p.m., and travels to Central Michigan March 17, in a showdown for the MAC title.
