LAST WEEK
The Broncos were swept for the second time this season, dropping two games at Miami.

On Friday Western Michigan had its seven conference game unbeaten streak snapped, falling at Miami 3-1 on Friday night. Miami's Reilly Smith netted a hat trick to sink the Broncos and Connor Knapp made 26 saves on the night. The Broncos picked up a goal from Luke Witkowski but it was the only time they would get it past the 6-foot-6 goaltender. Frank Slubowski made 28 saves in net for the Broncos.

On Saturday the Broncos were blanked for the first time since March 5, 2010, falling 4-0 to the RedHawks.

SERIES HISTORY
WMU trails the all-time series 50-72-6 including trailing in Kalamazoo 28-32-4. The Broncos are 4-0-1 in their last five at home against Bowling Green.

Earlier this season the Broncos took five points from Bowling Green with a 3-3 tie and shootout win in Bowling Green and then a 6-1 win at home the following night.

J.J Crew still leads all Broncos in points against the Falcons with seven on three goals and four assists. Greg Squires has six points on one goal and five assists, while Dane Walters has six points in four career games including a hat trick he scored earlier this season in WMU's 6-1 win. Frank Slubowski is the only goalie to see action against BG, starting both games earlier this season. He has a 1.92 goals against average and a .892 save percentage to go with his 1-0-1 record.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS, AGAIN

The Falcons currently sit in last place in the CCHA with a 7-14-5 overall record and a 2-14-4-3 record in conference. BG is 1-1-2 in their last four games with a split against Alaska and two ties and two shootout wins against the first-place Buckeyes. The loss to Alaska broke a three game undefeated streak in which the Falcons only surrendered four goals.

Freshman Ryan Carpenter still leads the team in scoring with 16 points on six goals and 10 assists, but Adam Berkle leads the team in scoring in conference action. Berkle has 10 points overall but seven in conference on three goals and four assists. Sophomore Bryce Williamson leads the team in scoring with seven goals, four in CCHA action. Bobby Shea leads the Falcons in points from the blue line with six points on three goals and three assists. Shea had two goals and an assist, including the game-tying goal, in the 3-3 tie and WMU shootout win earlier this season.

Andrew Hammond has been the work horse in net for the Falcons, playing 1,507:05 in net so far this season. He has started all 26 games this year for Bowling Green, being spelled twice by backup Scott Zacharias. Hammond, who has played in 72 games in his three year career, holds a 2.67 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.

BG's special teams has struggled this season, ranking 11th in the CCHA on the power play and 10th on the penalty kill. The Falcon power play has converted 7-of-75 chances for just 9.3 percent. The penalty kill has been better, killing off 80.2 percent of the chances it allows.

HOME-AND-HOME
So far this season WMU is 5-1-2 in its four home-and-home series with opponents. The Broncos have played home-and-home with Notre Dame twice, Ferris State and Bowling Green. The Broncos are 2-1-1 against Notre Dame, 2-0-0 against Ferris State and 1-0-1 against the Falcons.

In those eight games, Dane Walters leads all Broncos with nine points on six goals and three assists. Frank Slubowski has been in net for all of them, posting a 1.72 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

LUKE VS. THE STATE OF OHIO
In Friday night's loss at Miami, Luke Witkowski netted his first goal of the season and the fourth goal of his career. All four goals in his career have come in the state of Ohio. His first career goal came his freshman year at Ohio State. He also netted his second at Miami the same season. Last year, the Tampa Bay Lightning draft choice netted his third career goal in a 3-3 tie at Miami. Saturday's game at Bowling Green is the final regular season game in the state of Ohio for the Broncos this year.
