Broncos Move Up to Fourth in USCHO.com Poll

KALAMAZOO -- After sweeping Northern Michigan over the weekend, the Western Michigan hockey team moved up to fourth in the USCHO.com poll, the highest it has ever been in the history of the poll.

The Broncos (5-0-3, 3-0-1-1, 2nd CCHA) received 689 points in the poll, including one first place vote, to jump three spots from seventh last week. This breaks the previous high of fifth set back in January of 2001, when the Broncos held the five spot for two consecutive weeks.

The Broncos also moved up to sixth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll after coming in 10th last week.

The new poll sets up a showdown for the fourth ranked Broncos with No. 3 Michigan on Friday and Saturday at 7:35 p.m. Both games will be televised with Friday's game on Fox Sports Detroit and Saturday's on Comcast.
