Max Campbell Signs With New York Rangers' AHL Affiliate

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Former Western Michigan Bronco hockey alum Max Campbell has signed a contract with the American Hockey League's Connecticut Whale, the top minor league affiliate of the New York Rangers.

Campbell, who recently wrapped up his senior season and graduated in April, played in 154 career games for WMU from 2007-2011. He totaled 46 goals and 61 assists for 107 career points and became the 50th player in program history to surpass 100 career points.

The Strathroy, Ontario, native was drafted by the Rangers organization in the fifth round (138th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Campbell is coming off a career-best season that him reach career highs in points with 35, goals with 18, assists with 17 and games played with 42. The 6-foot, 190-pound center netted the most important goal of his collegiate career on March 13, 2011 in overtime to propel the Broncos over Ferris State in the CCHA Quarterfinals. The goal sent the Broncos to the CCHA Semifinals for the first time since 1994.

Campbell received the Rob Hodge Most Valuable Player Award as voted on by his teammates and also received the Vick Vanderberg Top Scorer award at the team's post season banquet.
