Broncos Volleyball Helps Out At Girls on the Run

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo community is used to seeing the Western Michigan volleyball team do great things on the court. Recently, the Broncos showed that they're willing to do great things off the court as well, volunteering their time at the Girls on the Run 5K held at Waldo Stadium on Thursday, May 26.

Girls on the Run is a program for girls ages eight to 14, and is designed to help girls develop a healthy lifestyle and confidence in themselves. Girls on the Run strives to educate young women to stay healthy and promote a positive outlook on life.

To show their support, the volleyball team joined other members of the community at the Happy Hair station, like spraying girls' hair with bright colors.

"This event is for the girls in the community that like to come out and stay active," said Western Michigan volleyball player Jessica Brown. "We like to come out and support [Girls on the Run] because it's a good cause. It is just fun to be out here with everybody."
