KALAMAZOO -- The road stretch continues for the Western Michigan women's soccer team as they head to Bloomington, Ind., to battle the Indiana Hoosiers at Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday night at 7:35 p.m.
WMU's trip to Indiana is the second of four-straight road games with matches at Cincinnati and concluding at IUPUI. Indiana has averaged three goals a game in its three games this season and holds a 2-1 record. The trio of Orianica Velasquez, Carly Samp and Devon Beach have each tallied two goals on the season, while six different Hoosiers have registered assists.
The Broncos head in after their first loss of the season, 1-0, at Michigan State. Before that, WMU got out to its first 2-0 start since 2002 after wins at Indiana State and home against Oakland. The Broncos have tallied a total of five goals so far in three games with
Nicole Dulyea,
Anina Cicerone,
Stephanie Skowneski and Brittney Plavica each tallying so far on the season. The Bronco back line, along with senior goalkeeper
Julia Francy have only allowed one goal in the last two games.
This is the first match up between WMU and IU in the program's 15-year history. The Broncos are 3-18-1 against Big Ten opponents with wins against Illinois (NCAA College Cup, 2003), and two against Michigan State.
