KALAMAZOO -- After getting off to its best start since 1989, the Western Michigan hockey program has received votes in two national polls.
The Broncos (4-0-0) received nine votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, putting them unofficially at 23rd in the nation. They received 41 votes in the USCHO.com/CBS College Sports poll, putting them unofficially in 25th place.
Western Michigan heads to Lansing on Friday night to battle the Michigan State Spartans, ranked 20th according to USCHO.com, at 7:05 p.m. The Spartans are coming off a weekend series that saw them split with top-ranked Miami. The Broncos host the Spartans on Saturday at 7:35 p.m. at Lawson Ice Arena.
