CLEVELAND -- The Mid-American Conference announced today that Western Michigan junior middle blocker Jaime Gotham is the MAC West Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. This is the third week in a row that the Broncos (7-7) have won the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week (Allyson Doyle-9/8, Caitlin Strimel-9/14) award and the first award this season and second career MAC weekly award for Gotham.
Gotham was named to the T.I.S. College
Bookstore IU Invitational All-Tournament Team after her defensive
performance at the net helped lead the Broncos to the tournament
championship and hold three opponents to .128 hitting. Gotham led the Broncos with 1.38 blocks per set after missing the previous nine matches due to injury. Gotham's
top performance came against the host Hoosiers with a career-high-tying
nine blocks, including two solos. Her insertion into the lineup after
WMU fell behind, 2-0, against Alabama A&M keyed the Broncos' 3-2
victory over the 2008 NCAA Tournament participant.
The Broncos are back in action Monday night at 7 p.m. in University
Arena against Cincinnati (9-5). Before the match, WMU Volleyball will
host a "Block Party" beginning at 5 p.m. Food and drinks will be
available for purchase. The cost

attendance. There will also be a sign making station, where fans of all
ages can make signs to use during the game. Bring the entire family out
to the match for dinner and great entertainment. There will be no
