CLEVELAND -- Western Michigan's
Jennifer Roberts has been named to the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic team. A junior from Bolingbrook, Ill., Roberts sports a 3.97 GPA in nursing.
Roberts was able to battle back from injuries that caused her to miss the cross country and indoor track and field season. She worked hard during the indoor season to get her fitness and stamina back up to where it needed to be and helped her to be a contributing member of the team during the 2008 outdoor season.
Roberts helped the Broncos three-peat at the Alabama Relays to open up the season. She was a part of the 4x800-meter relay team that took third place with a time of 9:14.67. She was again a part of the 4x800-meter relay team that took fourth place at the Sea Ray Relays on April 12. Roberts also scored points for the Broncos at the Jack Shaw Invitational, taking third place in the 800-meter run.
Her conditioning and hard work payed off when she finished in sixth place at the MAC Championships. Roberts time of 4:46.69 earned the Broncos three points.
