KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The hardware for Western Michigan senior forward Patrick Galivan continues to pile up as he was named the Hockey Commissioners’ Association National Division I Player of the Month for February on Friday morning.

Galivan tallied 17 points on nine goals and eight assists in eight games, averaging 2.12 points-per game and helped the Broncos to a 5-2-0 record in the month to secure home ice for the first round of the CCHA Playoffs. His 17 points led both the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and the nation for February and he was named RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month.

The Oak Park, Ill., native was able to extend a point scoring streak that started on Jan. 23 against Ohio State to 12 games, tallying 10 goals and 15 assists. He also ended the month on a seven game scoring streak, netting nine goals. During the point scoring streak, Galivan had 11 multi-point games during his streak, including two games with three points. The scoring streak pushed him past notable scorers from Michigan and Miami to become the fifth Bronco to capture the CCHA Scoring Title and the first since Broncos David Gove and Mike Bishai shared the scoring title during the 2000-01 season. He finished the regular season with 17 goals and 25 assists, both career highs, to set a new career high with 42 points.

Galivan will be in action with the rest of the Broncos tonight at 7:35 p.m., when they host the Lake Superior State Lakers in the first round of the CCHA Playoffs. The game is also televised on Fox Sports Detroit Plus.
