Andy McCaslin was announced as the women's soccer assistant coach on April 6, 2011, joining head coach Suzie Grech's staff in her third year at the helm.

Most recently McCaslin held the same position with both the men's and women's teams for one season at Saint Mary's University in Minnesota. In his one year at SMU he helped lead the Cardinal women's team to its first regional rankings in 14 years. He trained the keeper on the women's team that led the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with eight shutouts and fourth best in school history.  Under McCaslin, the women's team improved both their scoring and defense, increasing their goals per game and decreasing their goals allowed. With McCaslin's help, five student-athletes received MIAC awards.

Before his stint at SMU he was an assistant coach of the men's soccer team at Valparaiso from 2008-2010. McCaslin assisted head coach Mike Avery in rebuilding the program. In the two season McCaslin assisted, the Crusaders posted a 16-17-4 record and a program best record of 10-7-2 in 2009. They posted the best goals against average in program history during the 2009 season and saw the program earn its first ever Horizon League Athlete of the Week. He also coached eight student-athletes to All-Horizon League honors, including the 2009 Goalkeeper of the Year.

McCaslin was the head coach of the 1997 boys team of the Minnesota Olympic Development Program. He received a bachelors degree in english from DePauw University in 2004 and a masters in sports administration from Valparaiso in 2010. McCaslin played for DePauw from 2000 to 2002, earning three varsity letters. He played a part in DePauw's 2000 NCAA Tournament team and was awarded the Men's Soccer Mental Attitude award in 2001.
