KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Having already clinched the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Regular Season Championship, the Western Michigan men's tennis team will look to end the 2015-16 regular season on a high note when they play at Toledo on Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
The Broncos come into this match at 17-5 overall, 5-1 in the MAC and are winners of nine of the last 10 matches. The Rockets, who have one of the best players in the MAC right now in Stjepan Sisko, come into this match at 7-15 overall and 0-5 in the MAC.
In singles play this season, the Broncos have a 172-89 record overall and are 25-11 in the MAC. Freshman Matej Svjetlicic leads the team in wins at 27-10 overall while junior Matt Hamilton is 23-8 and has won four straight and junior Daniel Loebel is 23-10 this season. Senior Ruben Greiner is 19-5 and 5-1 in the MAC while sophomore's Jefta Kecic and Maik Steiner are 15-13 and 17-14, respectively.
In doubles play, the duo of Hamilton/Steiner have been tough to deal with for any opposing team, leading WMU with a 26-5 record and are 9-1 in their past 10 matches. The duo of Greiner/Loebel are 13-7 while the team of Kecic/senior Jimmy Beckwith are 11-2 and have won five straight matches.
