KANSAS CITY, Mo., -- Western Michigan sophomore Anna Wilcoxson sits in first place with a two-stroke lead after the first round of the Kansas City Shootout at Shoal Creek Golf Club on Monday.
Wilcoxson shot finished the day with an even-par 144 after shooting a 73 in her first round and a 71 in her second round to lead the Broncos. WMU only used three golfers in the tournament and do not factor into team scoring. The South Bend, Ind., native led the field in pars with 26 on the first 36 holes. She finished -2 on par fives and -1 on par fours.
Western Michigan's other two golfers, Julia Champion and Chloe Lawrie, sit tied for 15th after finishing the day at 153 (+9). Both shot opening round 78's and followed it up with 75's.
The final round of the Kansas City Shootout begins on Tuesday morning.
