KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan golf team heads to Kansas City, Mo., for the Kansas City Shootout at the Shoal Creek Golf Club for its final tournament before the Mid-American Conference Championships on April 22-24.
The Broncos will battle a 14-team field of Arkansas State, Illinois State, Little Rock, Missouri State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State, hosts UMKC, UTRGV, and Wichita state for the two-day tournament on Monday and Tuesday.
Shoal Creek Golf Course (6,124-yard, Par-72) is the No. 2 rated public course in the state of Missouri.
Western Michigan has had success in recent weeks in crowded fields. WMU took second at the Bulldog Florida Invitational in a field of eight teams. Last week the team took third at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate in a field of 15 teams. Both times the Broncos were led by freshmen. At the Bulldog Florida Invitational it was Claire Hernandez tying for second place as WMU's top finisher. Sarah White took the honors of the top golfer for the team at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, tying for 11th.
Western Michigan heads on a break for two weeks to prepare for the MAC Championship hosted by Eastern Michigan April 22-24.
