PALOS VERDES, Calif. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped by California State-Northridge Sunday afternoon at the Kramer Club as the Matadors came away with a 4-3 win. The Broncos were coming off a 5-2 win over Cal State-Los Angeles and this will conclude their West Coast trip. 

"We got exactly what we wanted out of this trip; outdoor tennis and the chance to play some good teams. This will pay off for us down the stretch," head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "Today came down to the doubles point, but tt was a close match. Overall I am pleased with the way we played for being outdoors for the first time since October."

The Matadors claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The duo of junior Tracy Kuhle and freshman Melina Lyubomirova saw their nine-match winning streak come to an end with a 6-4 loss. The team is still 16-5 together this season. 

In singles play, Olivia Myers (No. 2), Kuhle (No. 3) and Denise Azcui (No. 6) all earned wins. Myers earned a comeback win over Vivian Lin 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Kuhle dropped Kristen Poel 7-6 (2), 6-3 and Azcui won 7-6 (3), 6-4.
