IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Western Michigan men's tennis dropped a road match 6-1 at No. 62 ranked Iowa in its first match against a nationally ranked team this season. The Broncos fell to 4-2 while the Hawkeyes improved to 4-1.
In singles play, senior Ruben Greiner earned a 7-5, 6-4 win in the No. 5 spot to improve to 9-5 overall and a perfect 5-0 this spring. Jefta Kecic and Maik Steiner each went into the third set in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots respectively, but both ended up falling.
In doubles play, the duo of Matt Hamilton/Maik Steiner extended their team high win total to 14 with a 6-1 win over Silverstein/Patrick in the No. 2 slot. The two also moved to 2-0 this spring together but the Hawkeyes took the doubles point after winning in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.
